Spoonbill Studio will be screening Guy Richards Smit’s sitcom web series, “The Grossmalerman Show!” on November 11th at 5pm.
The Grossmalerman Show! is about a megalomaniacal, buffoonish, alcoholic contemporary artist who has been down on his luck. However, he receives the offer of a lifetime for a large solo exhibition. The catch? He can't show the paintings that originally made him famous. The series follows Jonathan Grossmalerman as he attempts to come up with ideas for his exhibition.
While Grossmalerman tries to create works worthy of the gallery's approval, his ex-wife mysteriously explodes at a gallery opening, leaving his estranged 11 year old daughter in his care. Also, his girlfriend finds an unfinished, haunted Basquait painting, and the deceased artist proceeds to haunt Grossmalerman in an attempt to have him finish the work. All the while, his studio assistant gets involved in a toxic relationship with the gallery director, Louise.
The Grossmalerman Show! was filmed in a manner similar to an 80s sitcom: shot on a stage set with multiple cameras in front of a live studio audience.
